Barcelona Trees

An image from a few years back, as I trawled through my back catalogue, wondering what to submit in the various competitions this year.

It's virtually uncropped, just had the levels adjusted. I was drawn to the wonderful light through the trees, the ornate lamp posts, set against the subtle shades of the smart shuttered town houses behind. Summed up the feel of the day and moment. Tried to compose to balance the positions of natural trees and man made posts. It was tricky lighting, but assisted by the partial shade.

Barcelona Trees

I found this image while trawling my back catalogue. I remember taking this because I loved the nature of the light on the trees, and the shapes made by the trees and the elegant lamposts, all set against a beautiful pastel backdrop of some very smart houses. Perhaps means more to me as a memory than as a great photo, but I'd love to hear your comments.

Patterns

This is a picture I took a few years ago of Barcelona docks. Not an aspect of Barcelona that you normally think of, and they are kind of tucked around the corner from the main city, almost out of sight. However, they are huge, and on this day I was struck by the activity going on there, and by the vast pattern created by all the containers at the docks. I cropped this from a larger image, and wanted to break up the repetitive pattern with the double diagonal lines and also the occasional crane.

I may enter this in the "colour" category in the up-coming CCC Photographer of the year competition. The other categories are "hands", "coastline", "movement" and "weather". I'll soon be posting my proposed entries for the other categories...watch this space.

Glass Ceiling..

I've not posted for a while, so here's another from the back catalogue. An ornate glass ceiling from one of Gaudi's designs in Barcelona. I love the intricate shapes and colours.

Barcelona Revisited

As I mentioned in the previous post, having less opportunity to get out with the camera has prompted me to revisit my extensive archive of digital images, and see what I can produce in terms of great images.

At a rough guess, I must have about 15,000 images on the hard drive, and I have worked on a few hundred, so about 2-3%! Many of these will be out of focus, same image but at a slightly different exposure, or just plain rubbish. Assuming that this accounts for at least half of the images (it's likely more), that means that I have worked on only about 10% of useable images. There must be some good ones lurking in all those 1's and 0's.

Well, I think there are, and here are a few from Barcelona from a couple of years back. As ever, your comments on the issue(s) raised and your views on the images presented are welcomed.
