A load of crop.
I love this evil puppy look. First image: full frame. Next two: crops. What do you think? Does the cropping help? If so, which is better? Or, what else would be better?
First off, this is a beautiful picture of a dog. Great, partly melancholy look in the eyes and the splash of blue in the tag is great too.
Crop 1 - too central. Works least well.
Crop 2 - My fave. looking into the space, makes this emptiness work well. I'd likely crop the space a bit, as it's a little too much. I'd clone out the bright white areas on the top - little distracting. Also the tops of flowers bottom left are nice. Maybe also clone out the white area bottom right.
Crop 3 - this is good too, but feels a little unbalanced compared to the middle one.
Dams' crop - I can see what you are doing here, but it has all the issues of the last crop but the subject feels too close to the edge, and has the impression of nearly falling out of the frame.
Final comment - maybe it's my screen, but the dog looks a little underexposed on the body compared to the face. Maybe play around with levels/curves and see if there's a more balanced version in there. Final final comment - there may be an excellent, close-in on the face in mono in here too...
