Regularity
In the spirit of regular contributions, I'm posting this image. A free bag of onions to whoever first guesses what this is.
Your thoughts? Too much black? Not enough? Does it need more puppies?

Hi Colin
Looks like the surface of an iron to me. An intriguing picture. I think there may be a tad too much black, my first instinct was to crop it and see how a more letterbox arrangment would work.
Not an iron, nor anything celestial. I find the regular pattern exciting, however. Actually I'm a bit surprised you didn't like all the black, Dam, since you often like a subject far to one side with emptiness on the other. Like that bird on a wire photo.
It's Sherri's new optics table for her femtosecond laser. The threaded screw holes are around 1" apart, where you can insert lenses, mirrors, splitters, and all sorts of optical goodies. The table itself weighs around 600kg.
I like it. I was going go suggest a chair mat to prevent wear and tear on a carpet from the wheels of a chair, until I clicked on it to see the full size.

Is it the surface of Mars? or perhaps a highly organised asteroid field..?
Too much black indeed and given the regularity not terribly exciting..but I bet Sue likes it...

No other guesses yet?
Is it a grater of some sort?
Ivan
screws of some sort are inserted into those holes...but why, I have no idea...
I do like space in photos but this doesn't work for me. I guess there isn't enough for me.
Anyway, what the hell is it...and can you eat it...

And yes, you can eat it. It's quite crunchy!
Now where the #$!! is everyone else?
Ahhh, NOW I see what it is (not). Bit esoteric, non?
Ivan
It's basically a large metal bench with holes in it. Well, I thought it was interesting anyway.

Really like it - one could imagine this hanging in the reception of a big corperation. All of my guesses were way off!
