Two for Monday

Ivan's kindly offered to print my selection for the first CCC print competition, the deadline for which falls on Monday. He also made the suggestion of which pair of images I should enter. For the church in Santorini at sunset, I absolutely agree. For the recessional columns, I'm not so sure, but it's going to be fascinating to find out!

They both look great on the blog, so it'll be very interesting to see how they do, as you say.

The church image looks great; nothing clashes, the light is warm and pleasing, and I can almost feel what it must have been like to be there. So - even if I say it myself - a great choice and brilliant image. If only it had a bird, flying away in the upper RH corner, to fill that bit of sky, but it may not need that. Don't be surprised if you get two of these prints, one with and one without some avian friends...

The second image - recessional columns - really grabbed me in terms of it's pattern and graphical impact, but it'll come down more to whether this grabs the judge. I think if I can get the print right, it'll look great. Again, if it had a small figure bottom right, it may just elevate it. Again, don't be surprised if you get two prints back...

I have a couple of interesting choices, and a few back-ups too - I'll try to get them on the blog for tomorrow, so perhaps you all can assist me in finalising my print choices.

I've just checked on the CCC programme, and we have deadlines and competitions basically every week until Christmas, apart from the Annual Exhibition week. Bring it on!!!

G - well done too; we've just broken last years blogging total of 115 - and it's still only late September ("...and I really should be back at School" - name the song and artist).

Well I didn't recognise it until I googled it. But now I do. Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you.

The top image has excellent lighting, feels warm, well composed, and I like th 'flat' islands in the distance. But I prefer the second image. This one is a lot more appealing to me and interesting (I definitely like symmetry in photographs)...

Thanks Damian. Ivan and I are interested to see whether something more conservative (i.e. the first one) will do better at the camera club, than the second, even though I think we're all three of us of the same mind.
