Macro 1st attempt
Hi Cahps,
I've recently bought a 100mmm Macro lens. Here's one of my first attempts at macro photography. 1/60 f4 and used my speedlight bouncing onto a reflector. It's Ok but i feel there could be more - what do you reckon? Adam
When taking macro shots, I find that the tight depth of field at wider aperture settings makes it difficult to get a nice crisp shot (unless one wants to highlight something very specific in the shot.) Nice colours though!
Now that Ivan has told me how to post here, maybe I'll put up a few macro shots as well!
I'd be tempted to take the dark section off-centre a little and increase the aperture until you get all of the little spikey bits in focus. Losing the petals away to blur is really really nice though.
It's hard. This kinds of shots have been done to death so to get something original is going to be tricky. So I guess for the time being you need to get your craft right - get your skills up to speed before you get even more creative. Good effort, though.
Agree with all the comments so far. Off-centre would be better, and getting more of the little spikes in focus (or at least only one area of) would improve too. Nice shot though, and look forward to seeing others! Ivan

Yeh, I left it open intentionaly so that the centre is in focus but the rim only in places. I'm not sure it's worked on this shot though. Adam
