What the horse saw

Yup, another horse eye! And what did she see?

I like this close up - very moody and interesting. I like the shallow DoF and the perspective is great, rather than the usual horsey stuff one sees.

I think I personally would prefer a less "muddy" look to the tones, and see a greater spread of light and dark, which would help us see the reflection in the eye more too - but that's just my preference. Also, I'd have liked the whole eye in there, rather than snipped off at the end.

Thank God someone is making an effort!

How can a tightly cropped eye create such expression...! I think I would like to see more of the area around the eye, so perhaps a wee too tight for me (that sounds rather naughty). The detail in the coat and eye lid is just too much of a tease. The BW treatment works well...

Really like this one colin....and I do like the daring crop and use of DOF. I just wonder if you might play with the contrast and dodge and burn a bit as the tone is just slightly flat for me? Congratulations on a top shot.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'll have another crack at this and post again in a few days. Would anyone like the original to tinker with? We could have a sort-of mini-contest for post-processing.

Oh yes please - post the unaltered original and we'll all have a play and post. You vote for the "best".
