Power to the Fens

I have been struck by all the power lines disappeaing into the distance in the fens - being so flat it realy accentuates the effect. Having said that, I'm not sure this snap cover that but it was near the car! (can't walk to far at the moment and kind of grabbed me). Any thoughts how it could be improved? (1/12 f11 82mm; ajusted WB and exposure level in Rawshooetr and converted to BW in phtoshop).

Hi Adam

A nicely toned black and white shot, so it looks punchy straight away, and I like that a lot in a black and white shot. Great exposure too, from near black to near white but no loss of detail in either. If you want the poles to feature more, I'd crop it a bit - there's not much going on on the RHS of the image, and the eye tails off there. I'd certainly clone out the distracting little bushes on the horizon, to create a cleaner, more graphic image, then perhaps go for a square crop, cropping off the RHS. I may also be inclined to crop off the horizontal line, as that leads the eye out of the image.

In case others don't know, Adam has some ankle issues at the moment, limiting his mobility, hence the less-than-ideal need to shoot from, or near, the car. Nice "grab" shot, this, with potential for more tweaking to improve.

Cheers

I meant to say "clone off the horizontal line" not crop off..I think you knew what I meant!!

It would be good to see any tweaked version of this image if you get time...
