I know you're just being shy about your real love for horse photos, mate, so here's a few just for you.
The first one was shortlisted for the East of England for the BBC Digital Picture of Britain competition a few years ago. Last year it was totally rejected in a CCC competition...

All nice pics, just a bit horsey for my liking...
More horsey means more fun!
The first one looks strangely sharp. Did you do some kind of edge enhancement?
#3 is probably my favourite, though the wide-angle bendy neck in #4 is an appealing effect (despite the fact it looks a bit phallic...)
#3 is probably the most conventional of all of them and in that respect it's pleasing. I don't think it was the sharpening which caused the first to look odd - I did some dodge and burn on the neck which makes it look a bit weird - perhaps it's that?
I would vote for #1 and #4. The white horse in #3 shows some wonderful muscle but the image doesn't jump out at me like the two mentioned do. Nice job..

4 and 5 for me. Which just shows that its down to individual taste. Great shots, lovely light bright feel, must've used a filter effect
