Machu Picchu in BW

OK, so this is the same photo in BW. I am in Brighton at the moment with my brother and family, after visiting Ireland for a Christening. I leave in a few hours so I haven't done as good a job as I would like. Also, I need more practice with Black and White...please tell me what you think.

And perhaps we should have a 'lesson' in shooting black and white. That would be worthwhile for me.

This image looks like it has had the saturation lowered, rather than black and white, as I can still see green in the picture. So, a lesson is indeed needed...

Gareth does a lot of black and white stuff, so perhaps he can provide some "top tips" for conversion?

I am going to have another go at this image now that I am back in Halifax.

I did not lower the saturation but used the channel mixer. However, for some reason the green does come through. Also, it looks quite different on my monitor at home compared with my brother's monitor in Brighton.

In terms of conversion. I have a book on digital BW by Michael Freeman which covers many different techniques. I just read that so will have another look at it.
